An Evaluation Analogy with Madagascar

The state assessments have come and gone.
To help bring closer to this chapter of our year
I have the students write an analogy of their journey in 8th grade math to that of another character that also embarked on a journey of gigantic proportions...
Melman,
Alex,
Marty,
Gloria,
or the penquins from Madagascar.

Students can create their analogy using many formats, software, and apps...

...they can write a letter to myself or the principal describing the similarities.
...they can create a Venn diagram to show the analogy between themselves and the character they chose.
...they can model the comparison using IdeaSketch on the iPads.
...they can write a poem, using a more artistic approach.
...they can use Marzano's analogy format to compare.
...they can create a chart.
...they can use pictures to help get their point across.
...they can create their own display of their choosing.
