Learned about another technology nugget at site council meeting...Voicethread. This is basically a slideshow with audio. I am going to work on incorporating this idea into my lessons tomorrow when the students create their shadow pics and use indirect measurement and proportions to find the heights of various items.
Thinking it through.
1) They will need to save their picture on their desktop or flashdrive.
2) Through email, they will need to send me their shadow picture.
3) I will upload it into Voicethread.
4) They will explain the process of finding the missing measurement (this may be helpful to have written out the steps first so it is a smooth recording.)
5) Will post it out there for others to use. I think I can also post it to my blog so you can see the final product.
Moving forward is a good thing. If you don't move, you become stagnant. If you become stagnant, you smell. (I'm going with a creek bed analogy here...stay with me). "It Is What It Is" helps us to keep our sanity as we try new things, but at the same time we should never settle for "what it is". We should constantly reflect and learn to move our teaching and our student's learning to higher levels so the classroom doesn't turn stale.
