Percents are all around us.
One really cannot function without having at least a basic understanding of percents.
For some reason, students struggle with the concept of percents.
It could be that it's abstract.
Or that there are several steps included with working with percents.
So, to help make the connection this year,
We're going to use an infographic on something they all have an interest in...water.
As an intro to get us started, I used this youtube video,
And then tied the percentages to real numbers...the world's water supply is about 1386 cubic km (which equals 365,904 billion gallons)
Not only will we be working with percents,
But it's also real world...relevant to the students,
And we can also tie in scientific notation (an up-and-coming CCS)!
