Looking Ahead...Open Ended Questions & Possible Wikis???

Just read the Educational Leadership, September 2010, issue this weekend. Boy did it get my brain going!

Beyond One Right Answer - pgs. 29-32

Open Questions

1. How are the formulas for circumference and the area of a circle alike? How are they different?

2. Use any fraction and the words MULTIPLY, WHOLE NUMBER, and ALWAYS to create a statement that is true.

3. Pick a fraction and a whole number that is easy ot multiply together.

The Virtual Circle - pg. 50-54

Wow! This got me going on another technology project. Will need to research Wikis or the possibilities of discussion boards (or something similar).

After creating a reading handout on the Real Number System, students will read for information by highlighting important details of the the 6 Real Number categories.

Students will then add comments to discussion questions that I have posted and will comment on other student's comments as well.

~ This will reinforce the positive responsibility piece we talked about on Friday, 8/26/10.

Questions

1. In your own words, describe a rational nubmer.

2. Give an example different than those listed that's also an integer.

3. How is a rational number different than an irrational number?

4. What are natural numbers?
