Tic Tac Toe - Real Number Practice

Technology meets differentiated learning! To reteach the real number system, students must choose a tic-tac-toe, 3-assignments-in-a-row, to practice categorizing the numbers. The choices try to reach various learning styles: create a story or a picture, make a graphic organizer, create flashcards, choice of three worksheets, create a crossword puzzle, or design a comic strip. Technology is infused wherever the student sees fit...creating the picture, typing out the story, using ComicLife, using web-based programs for graphic organizers and crossword puzzle makers.
No matter what three items the student chooses, they will enhancing their knowledge of the real number system.

It has surprised me how many students are taking the all worksheet route. If these students finish early, I am enhancing the lesson by having them choose one creative item to work on to use their time wisely. With the story, picture, or comic strip, higher level thinking skills such as Analyzing and Creating are used.

See Handout section for the Tic Tac Toe board.

Here is an example of my creativity...There Was a Real Lady Who Swallowed a Nat(ural Number)
