Transforming A Math Lesson

Transformations are fun...
Especially when Transformers are the center of the lesson!

My student teacher put together a transformation unit to not only review vocabulary but to ultimately discover the math behind translations, rotations, reflections, and dilations.

After a Smartboard lesson of vocabulary and eye-catching videos, students brainstormed what makes a good lesson.  Teams were formed and roles were divided out.  More discussion ensued as students voiced the qualities of a leader, a recorder, a technician and presenter.

An exploration will be used as an introduction once the project is started.  This will begin as a whole class activity before moving to individual exploration.
